Learning About the Brain

In our classroom we have been learning about how our brains work. We learned the functions of 3 main parts: amygdala, prefrontal cortex,
and hippocampus. We are learning that our brains are designed to pay attention to everything around us, and that we need to train it to focus. As well, in our Integrated Arts time with Ms. Taylor, the grade 2s have been exploring mindfulness and mindlessness. Mrs. Maybey’s Biology 30-IB students are also studying the brain and they organized a hands-on learning session for us. They created learning stations where the Grade 2 students learned about each part of the brain through participating in activities that demonstrated various brain functions. This was a fantastic learning opportunity for the Bio 30 students and for the Grade 2s!
